Converting YouTube to AVI

1. Open YouTube and find the video you want to convert.
2. Open KEEPVID in another window or tab.
3. Copy the URL address from YouTube and paste it into the KeepVid site.
4. You can chose AVI or MP4 to play in class.

Día de Acción de Gracias


Os deseo un Feliz Día de Acción de Gracias. Si queréis hacer un tarea extra durante las vacaciones podéis entrevistar un familiar sobre su experiencia viviendo bajo un regime como el de Trujillo. Podéis escribirlo o hacer un video y presentarlo cuando regresemos.

I wish all of you a Happy Thanksgiving. If you would like to do extra credit during the vacation you can interview a family member about living under a regime like the Trujillo regime. You can write it or take video and present it in class when we return.

If you would like to share with your family some of our class research on Trujillo here are the two videos and one song we looked at in our classroom stations. You will need access to YouTube to see them.

¡Feliz regreso a clases!


Bienvenidos estudiantes. Después de un verano de terremotos y huracanes regresamos a nuestras clases. Estoy muy emocionada por ser su profesora este año. Tendremos mucho por hacer. Investigaremos el tema de inmigración, leeremos cuentos hispanos y veremos películas de habla hispana. Finalmente, usaremos este blog para escribir y reflexionar sobre varios temas. Espero que utilicemos este blog para comunicar conmigo y con sus compañeros de clase. ¡Les deseo un buen año escolar!

New Quia Information

Hola estudiantes!

Mi árbol de familia en español (Family Tree)


Part 1 to your Project is to create a family tree. You can use your own family or a celebrity/cartoon family. This project must be completed entirely in Spanish. There should be three levels to your tree, grandparent, parent and you with all your siblings, cousins, aunts and uncles. You can also add pets if you like. You must also use possessive adjectives to reflect that this is YOUR family. Your completed project should be no larger than 11x17 inches so that it can fit on our class bullentin board. You will be graded on creativity so be sure to add pictures and lots of color!

Immigration Project

The final piece to your project on Immigration is a letter written to me describing what you have learned about Immigration. The letter must be in a letter format and include a minimum of three paragraphs with the following information:

1. What you learned from this unit.
2. The vocabulary you learned.
3. What you liked or disliked about this unit or how this unit changed your thoughts on immigration.

The letter should be attached to all your immigration work with the Checklist on top with your name and date.

This is due, January 6th. Points will be deducted for lateness.

Holiday Tarea


Choose one of the following. This assignment is due Jan 6 and will be part of your Final Project.

Design a movie poster for one of the movies we saw in class (30 days, Balseros, or Under the Same Moon). The poster should have the names of the main characters and a sentence in English which reflects the main idea of the movie.

Or, make a collage of images of immigration (i.e. border crossing signs, faces of immigrants, Dream Act supports, etc.) This can be the cover to your final project.

Interview a relative or friend who is an immigrant about his or her experience. Ask 10 questions which address the who, what, where, when, why and how of this person´s immigrant experience.

Write a review of one of the movies we saw in class. (30 days, Balseros, or Under the Same Moon.) Give a summary of the plot and summarize what you liked or disliked about the film and whether or not you would recommend it.
